Things I learned the last two days- 1/16-1/17/13

1. The fullback on the Seattle Seahawks, Derrick Coleman, is the only deaf offensive player to play in the NFL.  This Duracell commercial  shows a little of his inspiring story:

Go Seahawks!

2. I found this awesome blog for parents who have babies or toddlers who wear glasses.  It has already taught me a lot about what Sammy’s prescription actually means and given me tips on how to get Sammy to wear his glasses.  It’s so nice to know there are other people out there going through the same experience!

3. Since Sammy is still not crawling (he scoots instead), pulling up, or walking, his pediatrician recommended I put in another call to Tennessee Early Intervention Services.  They came out yesterday to do another screening on Sammy.  This time, he did not pass the screening so he has been recommended for a full evaluation.  Hopefully, the full evaluation will show that he qualifies for services.  It would be really nice to learn how to best help Sammy meet his motor skills milestones.

4. Sammy had a weight check at the doctor today, and he has gained almost a whole pound in a month!  He now weighs 19.4 ounces and has moved from not even on the chart to the 3rd percentile.  Yay for a fatter Sammy!
